Hi all,
I have a Venturer 20 and am attempting to remove the keel for sandblasting, sanding and painting.
We are having problems with the removal and wonder if any other owners or former owners have travelled down this track with their yacht.
Any advice greatly appeciated.
Regards,
Jack T.

Hi,
Am looking at buying a Venturer 20 to race on Wed nights. Being designed by Owen Woolley I would imagine they could be quick enough to race against the likes of the Farr 6000. Has anyone any comments or advice?
Thanks
Val.P

Hi there,
I have recently bought a ventura 20 and know very little about them, I would also be very intereested in any information on how to remove the keel and how they go racing against other trailer sailers the same size.
Any info on them would be great, thanks

Hi,
A friend of mine had one of these. As designed, they did not perform overly well upwind for a twenty footer, even though they were fine reaching and downwind.
From memory, the original centreboard did not go down to vertical. Once this was sorted (sorry I cant remember what he did to it) the performance was markedly better. Weirdly, the boat used to round up in the gusts originally, but once the board went fully down this was less of a problem.
In mixed fleet racing they were up with the Coronets, Caribous, Tasmans, Merlins and Sabres. I don't think we had any Farr 6's racing at that time.
Thinking back, the other Venturer owner at our club did the same thing, with the same results.

Hey thanks for that, I have just had the keel off my one for a clean up and noticed it didn't come right down, finally got it ready to drop in the water for a sail.
Can't wait.
