Are there any owners of Careel Trailer Sailers interested in trading, ie offering information on this breed of yacht,,

        I have recently bought a Careel 18 Mk1 ,its in poor condition but is well worth restoring ,  This particular boat has Sail No 2651 and was registered as “Bubbles”  in the distant past.. I have tracked down some information from the Kerikeri Cruising Club however there seem to be very few of this particular design in Nz

      Of the few that seem to be here I just wonder where they are , also how they perform..   There is a VERY POPULAR forum in Aus that is well used and has a vast store of info , but I do wonder what the NZ experiance has been,,

      I also have a Whiting 16 that I am more than happy with , The Careel is an interesting project that keeps me busy and gives lots of satisfaction………………………………………………..Don

Hi there.

I have a Careel 18 which was brought sight unseen from Tauranga. There is also a 2nd one in our club which was brought from Hamilton. They have both been extensively modified and improved and I would only be too willing to provide you with all the relevant information. I understand there were 22 Careels built in NZ by Compass Yachts as well as a few Wanderer 5.6s which have the same hull and deck mouldings but an improved rig with spreaders etc. I have numerous articles from various publications which I would only be too willing to copy for you.

The boats are at the North Otago Yacht and Power Boat Club in Oamaru.
