This year (2010) at Lake Taupo Yacht Club, we have decided to replace the Easter Regatta with the Taupo 50 long race, but with a slightly changed format. The race will be held over two legs, day 1 being a race around the two islands on Lake Taupo, starting from the Taupo Bay, around Motutaiko Island and across to Western Bays, rounding Motowharo Island and continuing back along Karangahape Cliffs then south to a finish line at Motuoapa. Boats will overnight at the Motuoapa Wharf, and a function will be held at Motuoapa, with all crews and their supporters invited.
Day 2 will have a race start at 10:00 hrs from Motuoapa, and race back to Taupo, where a prizegiving will be held at the Yacht Club at the conclusion of the race.
The winner will be determined by the combined corrected times of the two legs, using NZTYA National Ratings.
